What is College Credit Plus?

Students earn high school and college credit for coursework successfully completed. Students must qualify academically by earning remediation-free scores on either a national college admissions exam (ACT/SAT) or a campus location Placement test (COMPASS/ACCUPLACER). The tuition is paid out of local school district funds.
Credit Plus REPLACES Ohio’s Post-Secondary Enrollment
Options program (PSEO) and all Dual Enrollment programs.
Who is eligible?
Any West Muskingum student in grades 7 - 12 that demonstrates college readiness by submitting qualifying ACT/SAT or COMPASS/ACCUPLACER placement scores.
What colleges/universities partner with WMHS?
West Muskingum Local Schools is initiating this opportunity by contracting College Credit Plus opportunities with Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College.
Zane State College offers Business and Math course Pathways on the WMHS campus by WMHS faculty.
What is the difference between Advanced Placement and College Credit Plus?
Both of these options carry college credit at many post-secondary institutions. AP college credit is awarded by the college/university when a student enrolls and is according to their AP/Transfer Policy. College Credit Plus college credit is automatically earned upon successful completion of a course. To earn college credit
for an Advanced Placement class, a student must take a national AP exam in May and score a
certain level to earn college credit. Typically a score of 3 or higher of the possible 5 points must be
earned to receive college credit. College Credit Plus is based on successful completion of the course which consists of daily performance and assessments
conducted in the classroom. A student must earn a grade of a “D” or higher to accrue college
credit. There is a choice of submitting your AP scores to a college for college credit. There is not a choice when it comes to CCP credit. Colleges are required to look up students according to their SSID# (state student identifier) which is a direct link to any and all college course work. This is something to consider if (and this occurred this year) a student earns a poor grade/s and would not like those grades to not impact their College GPA which can impact financial aid and scholarship awards.
Do I have to go to a college campus to take advantage of the College Credit Plus Program?
College Credit Plus classes may be taken either at West Muskingum High School, the CSCC campus, or via the college's on-line program. It is also possible to have a combination of these.
• Courses offered on the college campus will require that you provide your own transportation.
